Afghanistan International: Abdul Zahir Qadir, former Deputy Speaker of Afghanistan’s parliament, has been arrested in Kenya and is facing extradition to the United States on charges related to drug trafficking and possession of heavy weaponry. According to The Nairobi Times, Qadir was apprehended at a hotel in Nairobi shortly after arriving in the country on 14 April 2025 aboard a Qatar Airways flight. Kenyan police, acting on a request from the US Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), secured a detention warrant from the court, citing Qadir’s lack of a fixed residence and high flight risk. Khaama: The Ministry of Public Health of Afghanistan has announced the launch of a new polio vaccination campaign across the country, starting today, Monday, April 21. The campaign aims to reach over 11 million children under the age of five. The national polio vaccination drive, which started today in all provinces of Afghanistan, will target approximately 11.6 million children under the age of five. Dr. Sharafat Zaman Amarkhil, spokesperson for the Ministry of Public Health, confirmed that health teams will carry out door-to-door vaccinations to ensure that no child is left behind.
