Tolo News: The Ministry of Public Health on Tuesday reported 840 new positive cases of COVID-19 out of 2,887 samples tested in the last 24 hours. The ministry reported that the cumulative total of known COVID-19 cases is 67,743, the total number of reported deaths is 2,887, and the total number of recoveries is 56,518. Tolo News: The Afghan government, facing widespread protests, has agreed to recall newly-appointed governor Mohammad Daud Laghmani to Kabul and to authorize the deputy governor to lead the province, for the time being, a member of the National Islamic Movement of Afghanistan (Junbish-e-Milli) said. Enayatullah Babur Farahmand said that the government has also agreed to keep the acting governor in place until the post is filled with a new pick agreed on by both Abdul Rashid Dostum and the Presidential Palace.

Tolo News: The protests in Faryab entered their ninth day on Sunday and demonstrators took a vote for a new governor of the northern province. Faryab is currently facing unrest because of President Ashraf Ghani’s appointment of Mohammad Daud Laghmani, a non-resident, as a new governor. At least four names were reportedly put on the unofficial ballot, but protestors said they would also respect nominations made by Abdul Rashid Dostum to the Presidential Palace.
1TV: Afghanistan will host Pakistan for a series of three T20s and three ODIs to be held in the UAE in August and September, a Pakistani media outlet reported on Sunday. The cricket boards of the two countries are discussing the series, Geo News reported.
