Mujeeb Ur Rahman tests positive for Covid-19

Ariana: Afghan spinner Mujeeb Ur Rahman has been tested positive for Covid-19.Rahman is set to play for the Australian cricket team Brisbane Heat in the upcoming Big Bash League (BBL). Surgeon, First Afghan Female General Suhaila Siddiq Passes Away

Tolo News: Suhaila Siddiq, the first female lieutenant general in Afghanistan and a well-known surgeon, who served for 36 years in Daud Khan Military Hospital, passed away at a hospital in Kabul today, her relatives confirmed. Afghan Recycling Business Brings An Ecological Boon

A factory in the Afghan city of Herat recycles plastic waste into filler material for insulation, pillows, and even clothing. Employing some 300 people, the factory plays an important economic role in the city as well as an environmental one.

TAPI construction to start in Herat next year

Ariana: Minister of Mines and Petroleum Mohammad Haroon Chakhansuri on Thursday said that construction work on the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) Pipeline Project will kick off next year. The minister also said that another project the ministry is working on is the construction of a 94.5 km-long gas pipeline from Sheberghan, capital city of Jawzjan province, to Mazar-e-Sharif and construction work will start in the next three months. 1TV: The United States will keep two larger military bases in Afghanistan as it reduces the number of its troops in the country to 2,500 by mid-January, the top US general said on Wednesday. Mark Milley, chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff, who was speaking at an event hosted by Brookings Institution think tank, said that in addition to the two larger bases, the United States would also keep “several satellite bases.” Click here to read more (external link).

COVID-19: 276 New Cases, 19 Deaths Reported in Afghanistan

Tolo News: The Ministry of Public Health on Thursday reported 276 new positive cases of COVID-19 out of 2,379 samples tested in the last 24 hours. The data by the ministry shows that the cumulative number of total cases is now 47,256, the number of total reported deaths is 1,841, and the total number of recoveries is 37,302.
