Michael Hughes: Chinese President Xi Jinping at the South Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit in Astana called on the bloc to boost humanitarian support and efforts to rebuild Afghanistan given its criticality to the region’s security.
The remarks come as the Taliban try to reassure the world the regime can crack down on terrorism, including IS-K and other outfits that pose a threat especially to neighbors in the region. Some terrorists under Taliban protection are aiming to strike at Xinjiang, China’s largest province-level division.


Afghanistan International: The leaders of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) member countries emphasised on the necessity of forming an inclusive government in Afghanistan. They asserted that establishing an inclusive government with broad participation from all ethnic and political groups is the only way to achieve lasting peace in the country. 

ESPN: Cricket Australia (CA) has reiterated that Australia will not play bilateral cricket with Afghanistan because of the Taliban government’s stance regarding the rights of women. CA chief executive Nick Hockley said that there has been “regular dialogue” with the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) on the matter, and hoped that the sides resume playing each other “sometime in the future”.
8am: Residents of Takhar complain about the high cost of medicine in their province. They state that many pharmacies in health centers sell necessary medications at exorbitant prices, even contrary to the rate list set by the Taliban-led National Food and Drug Administration. Some residents of Taloqan City, the capital of Takhar province, criticize the Taliban’s Public Health Directorate for its lack of oversight over pharmacies, clinics, and private hospitals. They claim that some pharmacies in these clinics and hospitals set prices based on their desires, significantly burdening the people.
