8am: Over the past three years, the Taliban have extensively forced the displacement of residents from specific areas, primarily Tajik and Hazara communities. This action by the Taliban has been criticized by international human rights organizations, the United Nations, and the UN Special Rapporteur on the Situation of Human Rights in Afghanistan, deeming it a serious violation of the human rights of the citizens of Afghanistan. Last night, the Panjshiryan Worldwide Council (PWWC) publicly shared the findings of an investigation in a virtual press conference. The report states that in the past three years, the Taliban have forcibly displaced 2,477 people, including women and children, from this province and settled their own families in their homes. According to this report, besides forced displacement, land grabbing, and mass killings, the Taliban, with 21,000 fighters, have established military bases in villages, causing harassment to the residents. 8am: The killing of innocent Hazaras in the district of Khas Uruzgan, Uruzgan province, and their imprisonment following the murder of Rostam Rahimi, the mullah of Shashpar Mosque, showcases the height of humiliation and sorrow. Since the rise of the Taliban, countless Hazaras in Khas Uruzgan district have fallen victim to brutal violence. Over the past three years, 21 Hazaras have been killed without any reason, and none of their killers have been apprehended. These murders not only demonstrate injustice and oppression but are also a deliberate effort to suppress and destroy the Hazara community.
Ariana: Devastating floods that swept through a number of districts in Zabul province on Sunday night have left at least ten people dead, officials confirmed Monday. According to Zabihullah Jawohar, Zabul Police Command spokesman, heavy rain caused the floods in the city of Qalat and districts in the province. Afghanistan has been particularly hard hit by floods in the past few months, which experts are attributing to climate change.
Afghanistan International: The Iranian human rights organisation Hengaw has issued a warning about the increasing levels of government and social racism directed at Afghan migrants in Iran, describing the situation as “catastrophic”. In a statement released on Monday, Hengaw noted a significant rise in anti-Afghan racism within the country, both at the governmental and social levels. The organisation labelled the deportation of Afghan migrants and the imposition of residency restrictions as “apartheid,” urging both Iranian and international human rights and civil society organisations to address this issue. The organisation also reported that at least 25 Afghan prisoners have been executed in Iranian prisons over the past seven months. Following the Taliban’s seizure of Kabul in August 2021, a considerable number of Afghan citizens sought refuge in Iran.
