A fire erupted at a gas distribution company in Kabul, killing at least six people, officials said. Noorullah Ansar, a Taliban-appointed official with the Afghan capital’s Disaster Management and Fire Department, said the blaze, which erupted in the Paghman district on the evening of November 2, also injured at least nine others. Other reports said the casualty toll could reach into the dozens.

Afghanistan International: According to these sources, Gul Bibi and a group of other women in Darqad district had clashed with a local Taliban commander and his associates over their attempts to take over the women’s land and destroy their crops. In response to the women’s resistance, the Taliban officials, allegedly in collusion with “a local land-grabber and bully,” intervened to forcibly remove the women from the property.
Afghanistan International: The Afghanistan Freedom Front (AFF) has claimed responsibility for the attack on the Taliban in the northern city of Kabul. The front said that three members of the Taliban had been killed and four others were wounded in the attack. Residents of Kabul had reported an explosion in Sarai Shamali on Friday evening, November 1.

8am: Residents of Kunduz city have accused the Taliban municipality of extortion and imposing arbitrary fees. They allege that Taliban officials, along with local representatives, forcibly enter homes to measure them and collect money. Many residents, including female heads of households, express their inability to afford these payments and frustration that the Taliban, instead of creating job opportunities, are financially burdening the public.
Khaama: On Saturday, November 2, WHO announced that cases of acute respiratory infections and diarrhea have been more prevalent than other diseases in the country. The report states that 29 percent of WHO’s consultations and services over the past month were related to acute respiratory infections and diarrhea, provided through 993 health centers across 34 provinces.
Ariana: Michael Kugelman, a US-based foreign policy expert and the Director of the South Asia Institute at the Wilson Center, has said that Donald Trump, as president, would be less likely to focus on the state of women’s education and human rights in Afghanistan. He believes that the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) might be more inclined towards a Trump administration.
