Ariana: A new Pentagon report has revealed that the US left $7 billion of military gear – including 78 aircraft, 12,000 Humvees and thousands of air-to-ground weapons – in Afghanistan after President Joe Biden’s chaotic 2021 withdrawal. According to the report, seen by CNN, the US Defense Department has no plans to return to Afghanistan to “retrieve or destroy” the equipment. Click here to read more (external link).

8am: As a result of two explosions on passenger’s vehicle (minivan) in the city of Mazar-e-Sharif, at least nine people have been killed and several others are injured. Eyewitnesses say the first blast took place near the Sakhi shrine, targeting a minivan in a bus station. Meanwhile, according to information provided to the media by local sources, the second explosion in the Sajjadia I area of the 10th district of Mazar-e-Sharif targeted another minivan.
Tolo News: The World Health Organization (WHO) and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) in their latest report said that Afghanistan is the third highest country in measles cases, after Somalia and Yemen. Doctors at the Indira Gandhi Children Hospital say that in April alone, 600 measles cases have been registered at the hospital. 

8am: Local sources in Takhar province have reported that due to an explosion in front of the Taliban Intelligence Department in Khwaja Ghar district in the province, 2 Taliban rebels are injured. So far, no group has claimed responsibility for the incident.
