Hindustan Times: Pakistan Army has been reminded of its financial crisis and inability to fight Taliban after country’s defence minister Khawaja Asif threatened to bomb Afghanistan for hosting TTP terrorists. Noted Afghan journalist Bilal Sarwary gave a reality check to Asif, reminding him of his own words that even a superpower like America could not defeat Taliban and that there is no comparison between the US and Pakistan Army, who are likely to be crushed by Taliban forces if they meet in the battlefield.

GCR: A US military contractor was sentenced this week to three years and 10 months in prison for accepting bribes from an Afghan contractor. Orlando Clark, 57, of Smyrna in Georgia, was deployed to Afghanistan to evaluate bids for US-funded reconstruction contracts in 2011 and 2012. The Department of Justice said Clark and co-conspirator Todd Coleman, an analyst at a different US company, accepted payments of around $400,000 from an Afghan company in return for helping it to win around 10 contracts, including one to build an Afghan police station and a security checkpoint for US forces.
Khaama: On Friday afternoon, an earthquake of 4.4 magnitudes struck the northeastern province of Afghanistan, Badakhshan province, Faizabad city. According to Indian National Center for Seismology (NCS), the tremor of 4.4 magnitudes occurred at 1:43 pm local time on Friday with the epicentre of 124km South West of Faizabad, Badakhshan province, Afghanistan. The earthquake had a 150km Depth with a Latitude of 36, 38 and a Longitude of 69, 48. 


8am: According to local sources, the young man, who was known to be a hardworking employee of a private company in Bamyan city, hanged himself on Thursday, 13 April, in the village of Siyah-Khak, in the Fuladi valley of Bamyan center. In recent months, the suicide rate among young people in several provinces of the country has increased. Poverty, unemployment, hopelessness, domestic violence, and restrictions imposed by the Taliban are cited as reasons for the increase in suicide among young people.
