By RFE/RL’s Radio Azadi October 14, 2021 A Taliban police chief has been killed and 11 people wounded in a bomb blast in Asadabad, the capital of Kunar Province, in eastern Afghanistan, local authorities say. Witnesses told RFE/RL that the bomb targeted a vehicle carrying the Taliban police chief for the Shigal district on October 14.
8am: An explosion in Asaad Abad, the capital of eastern Kunar province in Afghanistan, has reportedly injured three Taliban members. As two districts in Kunar Province in eastern Afghanistan fell to Taliban extremists, families fled their homes to seek safety in the city of Asadabad. Some describe escaping through a desert without decent shoes or clothing — and they say those who couldn’t endure the tough journey were left behind.
