Afghan Army in Nangarhar with dead Taliban militants

AOPNEWS | February 10, 2016

Baghlan: Local officials announced today that over 130 Taliban militants have been killed and 95 have been wounded as a result of Afghan military operations against them through out the province. The provincial governor, Abdul Sattar Bariz, said that so far 2 Afghan soldiers have been killed and 6 have been wounded. The governor added that recent heavy snowfall has caused suspension of operations in certain areas.

Herat: Eleven militants have joined the peace process in Guzara district, according to local Afghan officials.

Khost: Dr. Mohammad Hashim Saeedi, the acting public health director in the province was reported killed by Afghan officials as a result of a kidnapping attempt in the Matoon area of Khost city this morning. Saeedi was killed after exchange of gunfire. Elsewhere, in Musa Khel district, Taliban militants said that two Afghan policemen were fatally injured this morning due to a bomb they had planted.

Kunar: A landmine set by Taliban militants hit an Afghan armored tank in Nari district today. Elsewhere, a blast from an old shell took the lives of two Afghan children in Wata Poor district; Afghan police said the incident happened yesterday evening around 5 pm. The two kids killed were brother and sister, and were reportedly playing with the shell before it exploded.

Nangarhar: Heaving fighting continues in the province. Afghanistan’s Interior Ministry announced today that the Taliban governor of Kot district, Gul Agha Pacha has been killed and 11 of his fighters have been wounded.

Nimroz: In Zaranj, two members of Afghanistan’s National Directorate of Security (NDS) were wounded by attackers riding motorcycles, Afghan officials said today. Elsewhere in the province, a civilian was killed and another was seriously wounded after their motorcycle hit a roadside bomb in Qasar district.

Wardak: Taliban militants announced today that a mine they had planted in Nirkh district hit an Afghan government tank early this morning, destroying it.
