KABUL, Nov. 6 (Xinhua) — Civic groups and human right activists demonstrated on Friday, condemning the stoning of a woman in the western Ghor province and demanding punishment for those behind the extra-judicial killing.

“We want the government to bring to justice all those involved in the stoning to death of Rukhshana,” the protesters said.

Carrying banners with “Social justice, democracy and freedom” and ” Rukhshana’s murderers should be bring to justice,” the demonstrators called on government to curb brutalities against women.

Taliban militants stoned Rukhshana, 23, to death on charge of eloping and adultery in the western Ghor province two weeks ago and the government has yet to arrest anyone in this case.

In March, a mob beat another woman to death in Kabul, who was allegedly accused of burning Koran and the court sentenced to death four persons involved in the killing.
