The Ministry of Interior (MoI) appointed prominent Mixed Martial Art (MMA) Baz Mohammad Mubariz as the goodwill ambassador for the Afghan National Police (ANP) forces.

The title of the goodwill ambassador to Mubariz was given to him by MoI spokesman Sediq Sediq during an event in Kabul which was attended by high level government officials.

Mubariz is one of Afghanistan’s brightest Mixed Martial Arts stars – in a country far removed from the glitz and glamour of America’s UFC series.

The fighter who is also known as “the Eagle” says he made his move away from traditional Afghan wrestling to Mixed Martial Arts after he discovered UFC on Afghan TV.

Mubariz started his pro career in India, where he went through a three-round battle with Kazakhstan prospect Kuat Khamitov.

Mubariz is facing his opponent from Russia Rasul Ediev in his first appearance in Absolute Championship Berkut (ACB) on Sunday.

The fight was organized after he secured first place in “Striking Eagles” fighting contest, organized in the month of October by ACB to find the talented fighters.

Mubariz received 7,516 votes during the contest which was held for a period of two weeks in the month of October. was selected among the 30 fighters of the world by ACB during the initial phases of the contest where 450 fighters from different countries participated.
