Women’s Movement Opposes UN Official’s Call to Recognize Taliban

8am: In response to recent remarks by Amina Jane Mohammed, the Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations, advocating for a meeting to formally recognize the Taliban, the Women’s Movement for Peace and Freedom has expressed its opposition. The Women’s Movement for Peace and Freedom accused Mohammed of making hasty and irresponsible remarks, citing the removal of women from Afghan society following the Taliban’s takeover.
