The Afghanistan national cricket team defeated Papua New Guinea by 201 runs in ICC Intercontinental Cup 2015 match which was played in a Test match format.
The Afghan batsmen set a target of 390 runs during the second innings and third day of the match by losing all their wickets.
Afghanistan’s score during the first inning was 144 runs while Papua New Guinea scored 295 runs in their first innings, leading the score by 151 runs.
However, Mohammad Shahzad’s 116 together with 112 runs scored by Hashmatullah Shahidi and 127 runs by Asghar Stanikzai helped the Afghan team to overcome the poor performance of the batting line in their first innings.
The Afghan batsmen scored 540 runs in their second innings which helped them to set the target of 390 runs. However, the batsmen of Papua New Guinea could not chase the given target and lost all their wickets by scoring only 188 runs.
On the bowling side Yamin Ahmadzai and Zahir took 3 wickets, Samiullah Shenwari 2 wickets, and Gulbadin Naib with Sharafuddin Ashraf took 1 wicket each during the first innings of Papua New Guinea.
However, their batsmen were restricted to 188 runs during their second innings with Yamin Ahmadzai taking 4 wickets, Zahir Khan 4 wickets, and Gulbadin Naib and sharafuddin Ashraf taking 1 wicket each.
