Khaama Press: The Taliban militants group in Afghanistan has slammed Gulbuddin Hekmatyar for allowing his party to sign a draft peace agreement with the Afghan government, saying Hekmatyar has committed ‘a major crime’. “Not only will he face the wrath of Allah for leaving jihad, but he has committed a major crime,” the group said in an article published in its website. MR
“HIK-MAT-YAR”
OF AFGHANISTAN
ON A
“PROPER PERSPECTIVE”

Growing up in Afghanistan, on my teenage years, gave me special insights into certain aspects of the land that, otherwise, would have had certainly gone obscured.
And then on later years, often times, I kept myself current with the political and social development of the region, during the Soviet (late 1979), and Anglo/US (2001) massive invasions of Afghanistan.
The major political sticking point in Afghanistan during several decades, (1950’s, 1960’s and 1970’s), was mainly implicated with major rifts with English-controlled government of Pakistan over the rights of self-determination for the fellow Pashtoons who are connected ethnically to Afghanistan.
The region had been forcefully annexed to colonial India during the English military campaigns, of mid-1800’s and then ceded to newly-established state of Pakistan, with no consultation, whatsoever, with the locals, 1947
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~.
In early 70’s, lower-ranking communist Parcham party, (pro-Soviet), formed unusual loose alliance with Dahood Khan, (1973-1977), who overthrew his cousin, Moohammad Zahir Shah, (1933-1973), in a bloodless coup
The uneasy relations soon turned sour with the communists which eventually led to the purge of the Pro-Parchami government officials and then again soon in weird twists of events culminated into Dawood Khan’s assassination, (1977), and communist’s complete take over of Afghan government.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The regional balance of power then began to abruptly shift and spiral down in an alarming rate for the English stationed authorities who were nervously watching the unstable situations of Afghanistan- with their Para-Chinar base across the border, barely 35 miles from Kabul and Jalal-Abad cities.
In Pakistan, the unexpected political developments of Afghanistan turned into an unusual temporary alliance between the English-sponsored Pakistan political authorities and the Hezbi-Islami of Hikmatyar.
Hikmatyar quickly rose up, to challenge the validity of the installed communist parties (in light of the region’s deeply-rooted Islamic values); but, by then the newly-established regime in Afghanistan was drawing huge military and financial supports from the Soviets, (1977).

•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
Well, the topic of this short article is about Mr Hikmatyar (the founder of Hezbi-Islami of Afghanistan).
I really don’t have much information on Mr Hikmatyar’s detailed background; but even then I would like to draw a rough sketchy image from diverse sources about the leader of the most powerful party in Afghanistan.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hikmatyar is originally from Koondooz Province of Afghanistan (which was bordering ex-Soviet Union before its collapse)- he was a student activist, (early 70’s), against the rivaling leftest parties during big political rallies that were getting organized and held mainly in and around the Kabul University campus.
Hikmatyar was exiled, (1973), to Pakistan at the time when Zoolfuqar Ali Boato (1973-1977), was acting prime minister of Pakistan.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
I don’t know much, in details, about Hikmatyar’s strong Islamic political views and the motives behind his original sudden departure from Afghanistan to Pakistan but I happen to have read some and have heard extensively from acquaintances on his party’s, (Hezbe Islami) general platforms and widely-known strong stand against foreign interventions, invasions and occupations.
Hikmatyar’s unshakable stand on sovereignty of Afghanistan was greatly admired by his supporters- mostly among religious intellectuals and the traditionally conservative religious devotee across the country.
At the same rate his religious devotion and fiercely-guarded independent streaks have had instilled intense fear among his adversaries; such as, foreign invaders.

•…..
Here is a list of information that I would like to present in order to clarify some misinformation about Mr Hikmatyar’s past political activities inside Afghanistan.
•……
•……
********************************************************************
A- It was widely reported that it was always a daunting task for the Soviets’ top field-generals to map up complex military engagement against Hikmatyar’s dedicated commanders on battle fields – but ironically, after the Soviet’s departure, the Anglo/US generals and the Western mass media, kept arrogantly down grading his well-known image, by minimizing his unthinkable achievements as a major iconic anti-Soviet figure and hero..
•……
•……
B- He accomplished something that the Anglo/US topmost general never could dream of succeeding- it was all pretty much the strong back up from the regular religious communities
across Afghanistan which made it a success story- Western political tacticians got involved much much later when they knew that the Russians were getting ready to leave Afghanistan.
A Stinger missile was fired for the first time in Afghanistan on February 10, 1988 which was clearly intended for publicity stunt- the Soviet decision to pull out of Afghanistan was driven by earlier extensive losses on the ground.
•……
•……
C- The stand offs with the “Boy-Soldiers” of DOASTUM’ militias clearly shows that Anglo/US intelligence agencies were paying the bills for them and were already indirectly in charge of Kabul city after the Soviet departure in 1989.
•
The Mujahideen could not enter the city- which resulted into further chaos and a major factor in ignition of the civil war.
•
That is how the civil war got ignited under the confusion of anarchies that were being aggravated by intensive foreign meddling.
•……
•……
D- Hezbi Islami basically always had been multi-ethnic religious party with its own unique forms of strict military and political agendas.
•……
•……
E- Political rifts with other Islamic leader Ahmad Shah Massoid, over the Laghman incidence and Masood’s unilateral entrance to Kabul city after the collapse of Najib’s embattled regime could have been easily resolved if it weren’t for the foreign overt/covert interventions.
•……
**************
*******
****
F- Kabul bombings and heinous criminal attacks on targeted neighborhoods in the aftermath of the Soviet departure were being committed due to foreign-imposed anarchies all over Afghanistan, particularly in and around Kabul city.
Those atrocities have never been properly investigated; no one can blame them on any one personality, without providing solid proofs.
*…….
*…….
G- Mr Hikmatyar did indeed sincerely wanted to formulate a genuine political solution for Afghanistan. In fact, he, (in 1996), cordially Invited two other major Islamic leaders; namely, Ahmad Shah Massood and Khalili, for the formation of a strong unity government;
***** but, a week later the, so called , “Taliban”, “religious group were pushed in, to cross the border from Chaman, Pakistan into Speen-Bullduck, Kandahar, on the pretext of “frustrated Madrassa students over the plight of anarchy-torn Afghanistan.
•
In a few days they were able to take over Kandahar city on a storm- from there on, a totally obscure new leadership, under mysterious guidance of “Mulla Omar” began emerging and quickly expanded into swift campaigns of take overs towards East, West and Northern parts of Afghanistan.
The English colonial authorities always had certain levels of influence over the administrations of all of those religious schools across from the borders of Afghanistan inside Pakistan- in fact, for more than one hundred years.
•
Now, it is just a guess work on one’s part to put the puzzle pieces together and make a realistic assessment on the purpose of the secret plots to derail and prevent the “home-grown” Islamic parties from restoration of peace and order in Afghanistan.
•……
•……
•••••••
••••
H- It is not being easy to be a popular leader sometimes- “Jah-Jee” (a friend of mine), once told me that, during the war against the Soviets, MR HIKMATYAR was once slapped by a older disgruntled father- Hikmatyar forgave the man right away.
•
Likewise, he may forgive the Anglo/US war criminals as well, if they turn truly civilized and remorseful about their evil military designs and crimes that they have had been committing on regular people of Afghanistan.

You are not taking my full comment!
J- While living in Pakistan, Mr Hikmatyar never got himself embroiled into internal affairs of that country, in spite of having lots of sympathizer and supporters among all different segments of the society in Pakistan.
Again, why you don’t take my comment !
You are still not taking my comments !
I- The Western media accused him of encouraging acid-splashing on women, (in his early political activities in Afghanistan), in an order to illegally enforce Islamic codes.
•
They all have been flatly rejected as politically-motivated nonsense.
False allegations by western mass media.
K- Mr “Saleem Shahzad”
of “Asia Times Online”, (the best journalist that Pakistan ever produced),
on his last commentary article, (a week before he was kidnaped and then cowardly murdered, 30 May 2011 ), called
Mr HIKMATYAR
“a legendary hero”.
TO SUM IT ALL UP:
-more….
Of course, there is something special about Mr Hikmatyar’s personality that gained him such admiration and respect, even among the ordinary local folks of Afghanistan.
