Around 100 black-clad masked men have taken part in a rampage against foreigners in Sweden to attack foreigners.
According to Swedish police, the gang gathered in central Stockholm late on Friday where they distributed leaflets calling on people to attack refugees, RT reported on Saturday.
“I was passing by and saw a masked group dressed in black … start hitting foreigners. I saw three people molested,” a witness said.
The leaflets accused police of failing to properly address migrant-related crimes and protect Swedish civilians.
“If the Swedish streets are no longer safe for Swedish men and women, it is our duty to take action,” it read.
Several arrests were made in relation to the incident, but all those arrested were released by the following morning.
Anti-refugee sentiment has been rising in Sweden since Monday when a 22-year-old aid worker was killed at a refugee center in the country’s south.
On Saturday, clashes broke out in the city between pro and anti-refugee demonstrators during which several foreigners were assaulted.
Elsewhere, in the English Channel port town of Dover, at least nine people were arrested after violence broke out during protests in favor and against asylum seekers.
According to local police, the far-right protesters started throwing bricks at officers trying to break up the scuffles.
Over a million asylum seekers reached Europe’s shores in 2015, with the majority of them fleeing countries ravaged by terrorism such as Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan. The refugee crisis has been Europe’s worst since World War II.
