Afghanistan’s national cricket team will play a series of matches against the African nation of Zimbabwe in late December 2015 and early January 2016. The matches will be played at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium in the United Arab Emirates. There will be a total of five ODI (One-Day International) and two T20 (Twenty20s) matches.
The ACB (Afghanistan Cricket Board) recently announced it’s preliminary squad that will face Zimbabwe. The members are as follows: Asghar Stanikzai (captain), Mohammad Nabi Issakhel, Nawroz Mangal, Mirwais Ashraf, Samiullah Shinwari, Dawlat Zadran, Gulbadin Naib, Shafiqullah Osman, Yamin Ahmadi, Hashmatullah Shaheedi, Rahmat Shah Zurmati, Najib Zadran, Noor Ali Zadran, Shehzad Mohammadi, Rashid Arman, Rokhan Barakzai, Amir Hamza Hotak, Syed Sherzad, Karim Sadiq and Nawaz Khan.
Afghan cricket fans hope the national team will have the same success as the U19 (Under 19) has had against Zimbabwe. Afghanistan’s U19 team recently defeated Zimbabwe’s U19 team 4 times. On December 13th, they won by 5 wickets, on December 15th, they won by 45 runs, on December 17th, they won by 74 runs, and on December 19th, they won by 159 runs.
