Afghanistan defeated Sri Lanka 5-0 today in a semi-final match of the 2015 SAFF (South Asian Football Federation) Suzuki Cup. The first goal of the game was scored by Sayed Mohammad Hashimi at the 46th minute of the game. Then in the 50th minute of the second half, another goal was scored by Kanischa Taher. Six minutes later, Khaibar Amani scored Afghanistan’s third goal. Then in the 78th minute of the game, Ahmad Hatifi scored Afghanistan’s 4th goal of the night. Finally, Faysal Shayesteh scored in the 89th minute to make the game 5-0. Unfortunately for Sri Lanka, they were completely shut out.
Earlier in the day, in the other semi-final match, India defeated Maldives 3-2. As a result, Afghanistan will face India in the final of the 2015 Suzuki Cup, scheduled for January 3rd at India’s Trivandrum Stadium.
Defending champions Afghanistan has been dominating the South Asian tournament. In the first game of the tournament, they defeated Bangladesh 4-0, then they beat Bhutan 3-0, and smashed Maldives 4-1. India has also done well in the tournament. Like Afghanistan, they have remained undefeated, however, Afghanistan is the favorite to win it.
