Afghanistan defeated Zimbabwe today by 5 runs in the first of a two series T20I match at Sharjah Cricket Stadium in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Afghanistan won the coin toss and chose to bat first. Afghanistan managed to score 187 runs (7 wickets; 20 overs). No Afghan batter scored over 50. The highest came from Usman Ghani with 42, followed by Gulbadin Naib with 37. However it was enough to secure victory. When their turn at bat came, Zimbabwe did not reach the target and scored 182 runs (7 wickets; 20 overs). Afghanistan’s Naib was awarded the Man of the Match award for his bowling in the game. The second match of the series will be played on January 10th at 8:00 pm local time in Sharjah.
